Drain valve is a valve used in steam pipe network and equipment, which can automatically discharge condensed water, air and other non-condensable gases, and prevent water vapor from leaking.

Trap valve type:
According to the working principle of steam traps, steam traps can be classified into the following three types:
1: Mechanical: Relying on the change of the height of the condensed water in the steam trap
(1) Float type: The float is a closed hollow sphere
(2) Open-up float type: the float is a bucket type with an open-up
(3) Open-down float type: the float is a bucket type with an open downwards
2: Thermostatic type: Operates on changes in liquid temperature
(1) Bimetal: The sensitive original is bimetal
(2) Steam pressure type: the sensitive element is a bellows or ink cartridge, and the interior is filled with volatile liquid
3: Thermodynamic type: Operates on changes in the thermodynamic properties of a liquid.
(1) Disc type: due to the different flow velocity of liquid and gas under the same pressure, different dynamic and static pressures will drive the disc valve to act
(2) Pulse type: As the condensate at different temperatures passes through the two-pole series orifice plate, different pressures sitting between the two-pole orifice plate drive the valve flap to act.
The working principle of the trap:
1. The steam trap is installed between the steam heating equipment and the condensate return water header. When driving, the bucket is at the bottom and the valve is fully open. After entering the trap, the condensed water flows to the bottom of the bucket, fills the valve body, completely immerses the bucket body, and then the condensed water is discharged to the return water header through the fully open valve.
2. Steam also enters the trap from the bottom of the barrel, occupying the top of the barrel, generating buoyancy. The barrel is slowly raised, and the lever is gradually moved toward the valve seat until the valve is completely closed. Air and carbon dioxide gas pass through the exhaust holes of the barrel and collect on the top of the trap. The steam discharged from the exhaust hole will be condensed by the heat dissipation of the trap.
3. When the incoming condensate starts to fill the barrel, the barrel starts to exert a pulling force on the lever. As the condensate level rises, the force generated increases until it can overcome the pressure differential and open the valve.
4. The valve starts to open, and the pressure difference across the disc will decrease. The barrel will drop quickly, leaving the valve fully open. The non-condensable gas accumulated on the top of the trap is discharged first, and then the condensed water is discharged. When the water flows out of the barrel, the dirt will flow out of the trap. At the same time as the condensate was discharged, steam began to enter the trap again, and a new cycle began.
